Drumblade Extension

A relatively grand two storey northeast farmhouse with many original features externally and internally gained a new occupant keen to incorporate modern day living into and beyond the existing layout of the house.

A well proportioned single storey extension was devised from a palette of traditional materials, slate, render and timber to house an informal garden room open plan with a large kitchen. Improved connecting views to the driveway access, garden and adjacent formal dining room where also incorporated.

The existing external granite wall was reworked with new openings to become the central feature to the internal space highlighted with natural light from a large rooflight. When open, large sliding glass doors provide a diagonal connection to the heart of the garden and an extensive decked area for entertaining.
